Q: First Hindsight Moment?
(Looking back on a moment where "How did I not know until now?")
To start you have to understand, I was dressed by parents who even to this day are in my eyes are pretty conventional. It was the 80's and whatever was in style for little boys is pretty much what my mom would buy for my little brother and I to wear from either Kmart or some kid's store in the mall. Once I got old enough (the mid 90's) and had a income from steady jobs of cutting lawns in the neighborhood, things changed. I shopped at places I love like Hot Topic and other goth-styled stores where I could also purchase some makeup and accessories beyond just the clothing. As stated before in a prior post, I was also one of the girls when I would go shopping with any of my female friends. This meant that I was usually right there next to them helping pick dresses or tops or even lingerie out for them and helping them try stuff on in the changing rooms. I was never really seen as a guy when I was with them, and if I was, it was more along the lines of "the gay best friend". These were the moments that I can look back on and say, wow, yeah I was goth as hell back then, but it was way more than that to me. I got to be one of the girls, and I got to experience what it should have been like to be a cis girl back then!
