30 Day Pride Month Challenge - Day #5

Q: Who was the first person I came out to?

I was in the closet until I was thirty-four, but the first person who knew was my bubbie. She knew way before then when I was roughly sixteen, as she pulled me aside one day to ask me about something unrelated and followed her question with this personal question which lead to an opinion of sorts. It wasn't a "are you gay" or "are you trans" type of question, but more of a "do you like the new dress I made" (she was a seamstress in her free time). I took my time looking it over and I think at one point I must have held it up to myself and gave her my honest answers to which she made the suggested changes to the dress. It sat in her upstairs closet untouched after that until after her death when my mother asked me about the dress that was marked with a pinned note on it with my name. I was unaware that she kept it, or that my name was on it, but I cried that day when I was able to describe the dress perfectly to my mom over the phone. But the first person I told outright that I am Transgender was my now ex-wife, after we had gotten home from a thanksgiving family trip with the kids.
